When my son was in high school, a boy in his class suggested that Jack kill himself because he’s gay. This kid posted on Jack’s Facebook page something like, “you should kill yourself because your a blank-blank-blankety-blank.” Jack’s response was one simple correction: *you’re.
Jack has always been supported and loved for being exactly who he is. Not all LGBTQ youth have safety and security in their physical environment, support and love from their family, or acceptance from their peers. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people ages 10–24.
PRIDE in You represents three things: the wholeness and divinity of each individual exactly as they are, the unity that envelopes us all when we accept each other exactly as we are, and the harmony that is brought to each life when we live with gratitude for each other exactly as we are.
A portion of the proceeds from each sale of PRIDE in You will go directly to The Trevor Project. The goal of the Trevor Project is to end suicide among gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning young people under 25.
I have so much PRIDE in You, Jack.
(And in your sister, Hannah, for her compassionate and beautiful design.)
