♍ (A maiden holding a sheaf of wheat)
The sixth astrological sign in the Zodiac, Virgo is the last of the summer signs and is represented by a young woman named Astraea holding a sheaf of wheat. In Greek mythology, Astraea was the last immortal to abandon Earth when the gods fled to Olympus and she ascended into the heavens to become the constellation Virgo. However, the association of this constellation with maidens and harvests goes back even further: In Egyptian mythology, the time when the constellation Virgo was in the sun marked the beginning of the wheat harvest, and Virgo has the equivalent sign in Indian astrology as the Kanya (which also means “maiden” in Hindi).
Virgoans are quick thinkers, observant, and analytical. Though modest and shy, they like to help others and people can rely on them. They are dedicated and work hard to achieve their goals. They are meticulous perfectionists.
Virgoans are sensible, discreet, well-spoken, wise and witty. Because they’re observant by nature, they have a good understanding of other people’s problems around them. They have considerable charm and dignity, as well as an excellent eye for detail.
They can be too preachy, uptight and critical. Virgoans hate responsibility. They have a tendency toward self-pity and self-destruction.
Virgoans are highly sensual, deeply loving and eternally loyal. They are very private people and don’t talk much about their relationships. They may seem cold at first, but they actually love deeply and hope for a lasting relationship. They are selfless and will do absolutely anything to love and support their partner, even to the point of sacrificing their own self-interest.
