Where Has Your Big Raven Yoga Mat Been This Summer?

Summer has a way of moving us outside.

Maybe your mat made it to the lake. Maybe it spent a week rolled up in the camper, came out on the deck every morning, traveled across the country, or never made it farther than the backyard.

We want to know where it went.

One of our favorite things about making Big Raven Yoga mats is seeing them out in the world, actually being used. Not perfectly styled. Not necessarily with someone doing an impressive pose on top of them. Just becoming part of people's everyday lives.

Because yoga doesn't need a perfect setting.

Sometimes it's twenty quiet minutes before everyone else wakes up. Sometimes it stretches after a long hike. Sometimes it's rolling out your mat on uneven grass while the birds are making a racket and the dog keeps walking through your downward dog.

That counts, too.

Every Mat Has a Story

We've always believed a yoga mat should be something you want to unroll. But what happens after it leaves us is the part we don't get to see very often.

And we'd really like to.

Where did yours end up this summer?

Flowers of the Middle Summer

At the cabin? On vacation? Beside the lake? At a campground? On your porch? At your favorite class? Somewhere completely unexpected?

Or maybe it stayed right at home, in the place where you most needed it.

Wherever it went, there's probably a story attached to it.

Maybe you started taking your mat outside in the mornings because the weather was finally warm enough. Maybe it came along on a road trip because you knew you'd want to stretch after hours in the car. Maybe you found five quiet minutes on vacation when everyone else was still asleep.

It doesn't have to be a big adventure to matter.

We Want to See the Unexpected Places, Too

And when we say we'd like to see where your mat went, we really do mean wherever it went.

Maybe it spent most of the summer in the back of your Subaru. Maybe you carried it all the way to a beautiful overlook and then decided you'd rather sit on it and eat your lunch. Maybe it became your morning spot on the porch. Maybe the dog has claimed one corner as their own.

Those are the photos we want, too.

Big Raven Yoga mats are made to be used. They're going to get rolled up, hauled around, stepped on, sweated on, left in the car, and occasionally covered in grass.

Prayer, Praise & Pose

That's a pretty good life for a yoga mat.

And honestly, those are often the stories we like best. The ones that aren't particularly polished or planned. They're just little glimpses of how a mat became part of someone's summer.

Yoga Doesn't Need a Perfect Setting

There's something different about taking your practice outside.

The ground isn't perfectly level. The breeze doesn't cooperate. There might be bugs. Birds make noise. Someone starts a lawn mower three houses away just as you've finally gotten comfortable.

Nature isn't particularly interested in creating the perfect yoga studio.

Aloha

Maybe that's part of what makes it so good.

You notice things. The temperature of the air. The sound of the trees. The feeling of grass underneath your mat. You adapt a little. You stop worrying quite so much about whether everything is exactly right.

And sometimes you don't do much yoga at all.

Maybe you stretch for ten minutes, lie there for another twenty, and watch the clouds.

We're counting that.

Tell Us the Story Behind Your Mat

We'd love to know what your Big Raven Yoga mat has been up to this summer.

You can tell us:

  • Where your mat went

  • What you remember most about the place

  • Why you brought your mat along

  • What your practice looked like this summer

  • Or simply the story behind the photo

No fancy yoga pose required.

No professional photograph required.

And your mat definitely doesn't need to be somewhere exotic.

We'd much rather see the real thing.
