Healing, Color, and Creative Freedom with Sarah Seidelmann – Joleen’s Happy Time Craftcast 71

Well hey there, Craftonians! ✨

If you’ve been hanging out with me on the Happy Time Craftcast, you know we don’t just chat about glitter and glue (though let’s be real — I’ll never say no to a little sparkle!). We talk about creativity, heart, and the beautiful ways art helps us heal and connect. And this week’s guest — the radiant Dr. Sarah Seidelmann — brought so much joy, wisdom, and color into my day! 🌈

Before our chat, I was cozied up at Big Raven Farm, enjoying the late-fall quiet and feeling extra grateful that none of our toilets had exploded this season (we’re counting that as a big win, friends!). The vibe was peaceful, playful, and just right for a conversation all about creativity, soul work, and the healing power of color.

Getting to Know Sarah

Sarah is a fourth-generation physician turned shamanic healer, author, and artist whose life story feels like one big, beautiful collage — a blend of science, spirituality, and creative joy. After two decades in pathology, she felt a pull toward something deeper and began exploring the question, “What makes people well?”

Now, she helps others reconnect with wholeness through art, color, and playful rituals of self-expression. Her work is such a gorgeous reminder that well-being isn’t just about what’s broken — it’s about what’s beautifully alive.

She also introduced me to her wonderful project, the Pocket Vision Board — a deck of mini collages filled with images and affirmations that inspire joy, purpose, and possibility. It’s part creative play, part self-care, and all heart. 💕

What I Learned from Sarah

Talking with Sarah felt like a gentle, technicolor hug. She reminded me that creativity itself is a form of healing. You don’t need to sell your art, share it, or explain it — sometimes, the act of making is enough.

I loved when she said, “You don’t have to do anything with your art. Sometimes the making is the medicine.” Isn’t that just beautiful?

We also talked about impermanence — like how monks create stunning sand mandalas only to sweep them away. It’s such a freeing idea! To make something not for forever, but for right now. It’s a little lesson in letting go, and honestly, that’s something my glitter-loving heart needs to hear often.

Sarah’s perspective helped me remember that when we make with curiosity — not perfection — we reconnect with our truest, most joyful selves.
