For this week’s Freebie Friday, we’re celebrating Monday’s annual Earth Day event with a quote from environmentalist Rachel Carson (most famous for her 1962 book Silent Spring and her fight against the use of the pesticide DDT).
Earth Day is a global celebration that occurs every April 22 with a peaceful push for environmental reforms. With over 1 billion people in 193 countries rallying together, it’s the largest civic-focused day in the world.
It’s a day of political action and civic participation. People sign petitions, participate in tree planting and cleanup activities, meet officials to urge corporations and the government to make pledges for a sustainable environment.
We at Big Raven Yoga are one with the Earth Day Network in their efforts to protect and save our planet. In one small way of contributing to this cause, we use only eco-friendly materials for our mats.
To help lessen our impact on the environment, we use a proprietary blend of recycled polyester and nylon for our mat’s microfiber top. By using recycled (and recyclable) materials, we’re reducing our use of energy, water, and greenhouse gases. In addition, our base is made from biodegradable, recyclable, 100% natural tree rubber.
Our Nature is a Wonder yoga mat serves as a reminder that nature is both beautiful and powerful. We must conserve it and protect it for our children and the generations to come.
