Description

The twelfth astrological sign in the Zodiac, Pisces (Latin for “fish”) marks the end of the year — the end of winter, just before the rebirth of the land in the spring. It’s one of the earliest Zodiac signs on record, with the two fish appearing as far back as 2300 BCE in Egypt. According to Greek myth, Pisces represents the fish into which Aphrodite and her son Eros transformed to escape the great monster Typhon. Typhon had been sent by the primordial earth deity Gaia to attack the gods, which led Pan to warn the others before changing into a goat-fish and jumping into the river with them. So as to not lose each other, Aphrodite and Eros tied themselves together with knotted cord. However, associations with Pisces from other cultures and religions include the Sumerian goddess Inanna, Vishnu, and even Christ himself — Ikhthus, “the fisher of men”.

Traits

Pisceans are physically and emotionally strong. They are wise, comforting, sympathetic and helpful which makes them a good friend to many. Pisceans are also imaginative and romantic.

Strengths

They have big hearts and love to help. They are sensitive to the feelings of those around them. Pisceans are easy-going people and are extremely gifted artistically. They observe and listen well, are quick to understand, and receptive to new ideas. They have a chameleon’s ability to adapt to their surroundings and have excellent intuition.

Weaknesses

On a bad day, Pisceans can be too gullible. Because of their imaginative nature, they sometimes become out of touch with reality. They tend toward self-pity and fail to recognize the greatness in themselves. They can be clingy and self-destructive.

On Relationships

Pisceans are hopeless romantics. They are idealists and wish their relationships would meet their high ideals. Therefore, they often find themselves let down. They are selfless and self-sacrificing to an extreme. When in love, they are sensitive, compassionate, incredibly kind, giving and romantic. They long to wrap themselves up with their lover and leave the world far behind. With the right person they can be extremely passionate.
