“Stretching his hand up to reach the stars, too often man forgets the flowers at his feet.” — Jeremy Bentham
Our social media feeds are carefully-curated perfection. A family portrait full of bright smiles, an impeccably organized desk, a flawless selfie with not one hair out of place. When we then look at our own imperfect lives, it’s easy to want something more. But perfection is unattainable, flawlessness is unreachable, and if we spend all our time trying to find fulfillment in the stars, we’ll miss the joy of the flowers that already surround us. Messy faces, muddy footprints, greasy pizza, dirty laundry… there is beauty here, too.
