Tula Minneapolis Yoga Conference 2019!

This weekend, Friday–Sunday, March 23–25, 2019, we’re exhibiting at our amazing hometown Tula Software Minneapolis Yoga Conference! We’ve met so many incredible yogis here! Everyone’s response to our innovative new yoga mats has been fantastic, and we’ve talked with SO many studio owners looking for custom and branded yoga mats for their own studios, both for use in-studio and to sell through their retail spaces. We love making custom designs — it’s probably our favorite part of our business, so this has been a really, REALLY exciting weekend for us! Thank you everyone! (Even if you’re not signed up for the conference itself,...

Freebie Friday! 03.22.2019

This week’s Freebie Friday is a quote by the late gorilla primatologist Dian Fossey. She was murdered in Rwanda in 1985 for her conservation efforts, and it was the last entry in her diary. This ties in to this week’s Mat of the Week, Terry in His Heartland, my own personal tribute to my (rather hirsute) father. Organizing by Intention

You may have noticed that our site has undergone a major re-org this week. A shakeup, a re-thinking of the way we present our mats. Hannah Cool and not too serious, with a touch of sunshine and coastal flare. Sawyer Peaceful and centered, a lover of the ground below and the sky above. Aisha Our world traveler, who loves discovery and adventure. Betty Retro and vintage, graced with beauty, refinement and whimsy. Brianna The sprit of an artist and the heart of an activist!...

Design Highlight: Terry In His Heartland

Terry in His Heartland is a very special and personal yoga mat for me. I’m so grateful to my team for their creative collaboration and thoughtfulness bringing this project to fruition. My dad, Terry, had a fascination and love for gorillas. Any primate really, but gorillas in particular. One of my favorite childhood memories occurred on a family trip to the San Diego Zoo. My dad sat on a bench outside the gorilla habitat with my little brother, Thomas, and me for over an hour. My dad led this observation, and by his example we were content to sit there...

Freebie Friday! 03.15.2019

Nostalgia. Webster’s Dictionary defines “nostalgia” as… (Wait, wait, wait. I’m gonna stop you right there. The Urban Dictionary defines “Webster’s Dictionary” as “The first two words of a speech given by a complete tool,” so let’s not start with that. Try again — Ed.) The Nigerian poet Jenim Dibies defines “nostalgia” as “A feeling that lingers long after the taste is gone” (from her second collection of poetry, The Calligraphy of God). Incredibly, she started — and finished — all of the poems in this collection in a single day. (MUCH better — Ed.) The yoga mat that most evokes nostalgia for us is...
