This is the seventh in our ongoing series celebrating our happy customers. This week we’re profiling our other beautiful teenage daughter, Georgie Denny.
Her sister, Hannah, is one of our highly talented yoga mat designers and manages a large chunk of our social media properties — we really are a family business! — and GG has been incredibly helpful in the business as well. For example, last weekend we were at the Ragnar Great Midwest Relay, a 200-mile race through Wisconsin, and she spent 3 days helping me pack, load, unload, set up, vend, and break down our booth numerous times in cold mud, lightning, and driving rain. I literally could not have done it without her!
QTell us a little bit about yourself. What keeps you busy off the mat?
A I’m 16 and I’m really looking forward to summer finally starting! I play a lot of volleyball — usually 10 months out of the year. I love my dog, Auggie (and the rest of my family). I love music, fashion, dancing, and painting. I’m hoping to go to college in California when I graduate — even though I’ll really miss my fam!
QWhat kind of asanas do you practice?
AMy mom is a yoga teacher and co-founder of Big Raven Yoga, so I practice with her — power, vinyasa, relaxation, and meditation.
I’ve been a yogi my whole life…
QHow long have you been a yogi?
AMy mom started when I was a baby — so I guess my whole life?
QWhat role does yoga play in your life?
AYoga helps me focus and it helps calm my anxiety. (I am a teenager, after all.) Yoga helps me breathe and find balance.
My favorite poses…
QHave you ever had a “yoga moment”, something that happened during practice that you didn’t expect? That made you laugh, brought you joy, made you cry?
AI have a lot to be thankful for. Yoga is a reminder of that.
QIs there a pose that used to be a “pillar pose” — one that you were working toward — that is now accessible to you?
QWhen you placed your order with Big Raven Yoga, what made you choose The Earth Laughs in Flowers?
QDo you have your eyes fixed on any other Big Raven designs? If so, which one(s) and why?
AI've been thinking a lot about Waxing Crescent Phases of the Moon. (I need to raid my mom’s closet.)
Thank you SO much, GG — I really appreciate you taking a few minutes out of your busy teenage schedule to answer my questions (and I really do appreciate the complete lack of eyerolling!)
