We Love Jules Legut!

This is the fifth in our ongoing series celebrating our happy customers. This week we’re profiling Jules Legut. It would have been ideal to profile Jules last week because she was the first to purchase our Audrey After Dinner yoga mat (a birthday gift for her daughter) but we’re glad we got her this week!

So one snowy evening last December, when we were going to be in her part of town anyway, we thought it would be a nice gesture to drop it off in person at the store where she works, D. Copperfield Jewelers. She was so excited when we unrolled it that she asked if we had any more with us. Coincidentally, we happened to have a box full of freshly printed samples in the trunk of our car. She bought one on the spot (Raindrops on Roses), and then the store’s owner, LuAnn, came over and also bought one (Flowers of the Middle Summer).

It was then that we realized that we might be on to something — all we had to do was get our yoga mats in front of people and they would fall in love with them! (It hasn’t been quite that easy, but this was our first inkling that our plan was so crazy, it might just work!)

(Believe it or not, Jules and LuAnn actually practice yoga in their jewelry story every Monday night. It’s turned into great fun for all the small business owners who share their building!)

QTell us a little bit about yourself. What keeps you busy off the mat?

AI’m married to my middle school crush, and together we have 5 adult children. I love digging my hands into anything creative and taking long walks with my golden retriever, Doc Holliday.

QWhat kind of asanas do you practice?

AVinyasa, and I’ve recently fallen in love with aerial yoga.

QHow long have you been a yogi?

AI think 5–6 years.

QWhat role does yoga play in your life?

APracticing yoga first thing in the morning is my favorite way to start the day. It clears my head and helps set the tone for the rest of the day.

QDo you have a favorite pose?

AI have two favorites: Tree pose because I love how grounded my legs feel, and Extended Child’s pose because it just feels so good.

Doc Holliday loves Big Raven Yoga mats too :-)

QHave you ever had a “yoga moment”, something that happened during practice that you didn’t expect? That made you laugh, brought you joy, made you cry?

AA couple months ago I was trying to come up with an idea for a new jewelry line to help me fundraise for an upcoming hike I’m participating in. My focal point is a piece of art that one of my daughters made for me of a bird and while I was gazing at it I realized that inside the bird it says “I am Free”. Since the hike is to raise funds to fight human trafficking I thought the bird would be a perfect symbol to use in my new jewelry line. I love how it all came together! (More on this at the bottom of our interview!)

QIs there a pose that used to be a “pillar pose” — one that you were working toward — that is now accessible to you?

AI’m still working on Dancer’s Pose. I used to say I hate it but one day I’ll nail it!

QWhen you placed your order with Big Raven Yoga, what made you choose Raindrops on Roses?

A It just called out to me, I love the colors, the design, the name, all of it.

QDo you have your eyes fixed on any other Big Raven designs? If so, which one(s) and why?

ARight now I just love them all and am tempted almost daily to get another. Honestly I’d really like to get one for Doc since he loves mine as much as I do.

QDo people ask you about your mat?

AOf course they do! (Actually, when I first tried aerial, I brought an old ugly mat instead of my Big Raven mat because I didn’t want them to think I knew what I was doing.)

QIs there anything else you’d like us to know about you?

AI’m working on a compassion project — raising money for Rescue:Freedom! This August I will be joining the Freedom Hikers in Utah to hike 15 miles on Mount Timpanogos to raise funds for Rescue:Freedom, an organization that rescues people from human trafficking and helps them to make a fresh start. As part of my fundraising campaign I’ve designed a line of jewelry. 100% of the proceeds will go to my donation to Rescue:Freedom. So far I have four designs to choose from and they are $50 each, all of which will go towards my $3,000 donation goal. I’m super excited about this and thank you in advance for your support! Let me know your selection and I’ll deliver or send to you ASAP! (You can also donate directly through my page!)

Thank you SO much, Jules — we really appreciate you taking a few minutes out of your day to answer our questions, and we love your photos of Doc!

Jules purchased Raindrops on Roses for herself, and Audrey After Dinner for her daughter.
