Design Highlight: Symbols of Remembrance
This week’s Design Highlight is a yoga mat from our permanent collection, the Symbols of Remembrance yoga mat. This design is an abstract representation of the poppy, Papaver somniferum. Since ancient times, the poppy has been associated with sleep, peace and mourning. The watercolor elements of this design, along with the informal white line work together to create a perfect landscape for peace and restfulness. The color palette is both warm and cool, allowing the user to find comfort and connection in ways that serve them best. Our Symbols of Remembrance yoga mat has become a popular basis for memorialization...
Design Highlight: The Earth Laughs in Flowers
This week’s Design Highlight is my very own The Earth Laughs in Flowers yoga mat, whose title was taken from the poem Hamatreya by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The poem itself is…well, it’s a bit dark, being as it is about his Concord, New Hampshire neighbors who boast about their ownership of their beautiful farmland: …Earth laughs in flowers, to see her boastful boys Earth-proud, proud of the earth which is not theirs; Who steer the plough, but cannot steer their feet Clear of the grave… Like I said: dark. Nevertheless, I thought it was a beautiful title for this riotous...
Design Highlight: The Ragnar Collection
Surprise! Today we’re introducing a new temporary collection of yoga and recovery mats designed especially for Ragnar Relay runners! We call it our Ragnar collection — obviously! If you’re not familiar with the Ragnar Relay Series, it’s a nationwide series of long-distance relay events that are roughly 200 miles long and last two days and one night. That’s right — the runners run overnight (which is why one of the events is called “Chase the Moon”). Ragnar relays are comprised of teams of 4–12 runners; teams with 6 or fewer runners are considered “ultra” teams. The 200-mile distance is divided between the runners...
Design Highlight: Daydream; Rose Gold Pathway; Moonchild, You Shine
This week we’re celebrating Mother’s Day! (It’s this coming Sunday. You’re welcome.) As a result, we’re calling this week’s design highlight our “Mother’s Day Trio” — three yoga mats with a similar design aesthetic, all created by Karla, and all introduced on the first of May, just in time for Mother’s Day! (And, I should point out, not just introduced on the first of May, but only available during the month of May, so if you love these, don’t dawdle too long or you’ll miss your one and only chance to own one…) All three of Karla’s designs remind us of...
Design Highlight: Audrey Hepburn
This week we’re celebrating the inimitable screen and style icon, Audrey Hepburn, aristocratic star of the silver screen and towering philanthropist. This coming Saturday, May the 4th, would have been her 90th birthday. Born in Brussels, she spent her childhood bouncing between Belgium, England and the Netherlands, studying ballet, voice, and theater before her breakout Hollywood role as the love interest of Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday. She went on to star in some of Hollywood’s most beloved Golden Age films, including My Fair Lady, Funny Face, and in her defining role as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The...
